Kill ‘Em With Kindness

You will never regret being kind…

As a stay-at-home mom, I am always wondering what I can do to bring purpose to my day, especially when it comes to loving on God’s people. I have always had that as a part of my personality, but it has been emphasized more recently when suddenly I have a lot more free time on my hands.

As I stared at my free time, I began filling it up with things that would help accomplish my goals and my wants and desires. Oftentimes, it left me feeling unsatisfied and drained. Than it got me to thinking (well, technically, God got me to thinking) that perhaps He laid out this expanse of time for me so that I can help those who are feeling unsatisfied and drained themselves!

How many of us have time throughout the day that we choose to spend it on ourselves? How much more satisfying and thrilling would it be to sacrifice a quarter of that time in helping someone in need? Perhaps we could spend some time at an elderly neighbor’s house who does not have much family left and feels lonely…or maybe we could print out encouraging sayings on cards and hand out to those we see while grocery shopping…or maybe a friend needs some help in tidying up their house because she already has so much on her plate…

A little at a time, God is showing that each day does not have to be unimportant and mundane, filled with “things to do” around the house and things to accomplish on our list and our list alone. God has a beautiful plan for each one of us every day—we need to only just ask Him how He plans to fill our day that not only will delight his heart and others, but bring joy to us as well!

Who has God laid on your heart that could benefit from your kindness?

“Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor.”

Proverbs 11:25
